Jay Chou in Sydney

I just got back from Jay… holy shit that was amazing. AMAZING.

Honestly speaking, I’m not (wasn’t) the biggest fan of Jay. I originally decided to purchase the tickets with my friends to mostly experience the atmosphere as well as just knowing it would be an awesome night out with them. In saying that, I have heard most of Jay’s songs to date at least once and recognised all but one song during the concert. And despite not being the biggest fan, as soon as he walked on to stage and I heard Alice scream “OH MY GOD IT’S HIM IT’S JAY CHOU” I felt a rush of awesome flood through me and proceeded to go nuts.

The night started by meeting up at Redfern station with Alice and Johnni, training it to Lidcombe (Adeline’s turf) and then changing to a train to Olympic Park. We got there and ate maccas in the cold wind. It was so cold and windy. Following that we walked over to Acer Arena and watched dopey ‘rangers’ take glow sticks off kids because they were apparently selling them inside. So we proceeded to hide ours up our sleeves and snuck them in.

Once inside we found our seats which actually turned out to be a really good location. They were up the back, but just on the side of the stage so we had a perfect view looking down on everything as well as a good view on the screen. The seats also don’t go too far back on the sides for anyone who hasn’t been to Acer, so it turned out brilliant.

After waiting a while Jay walks out on stage, everyone starts going nuts and some chick in front of us almost had a heart attack. Alice decided to “out do the bitch” and went super sayin or some thing when Jay looked our way and went berserk. I eventually caught on, as did Johnni and Aivy. I was getting loads of looks for being white, I also bumped into a number of people I knew which was pretty cool.

Half way into the concert a guy and a girl started performing (I can’t remember their names, can anyone fill me in? I think the girl was Lara?) and the crowd was actually fairly quiet. The guy then looked our way and Alice once again went berserk, as soon as she started going nuts the guy cracked an even wider smile and waved. I wonder if he noticed her? It would be pretty hard not to considering she was pretty much the only person going crazy hahaha.

A little more into the concert some dancers came on stage with Jay, doing the whole sexy thang. As soon as everyone went quiet for a moment one of the dancers was rubbing herself up against Jay (part of the dance) and Alice yells out “SLUT” loud enough for almost everyone around us to hear. HILARIOUS. Was so well timed. There was a second round also when the next lot of dancers came out wearing red, an almost deja vu situation with Alice screaming the exact same word at once again the perfect moment. Needless to say, we got some looks.

Meanwhile Aivy kept begging for him to sing the “Huo huo huo huo huo huo” song (Huo Yuan Jia). However Jay started to wrap up the concert, saying his farewells. When he looked our way Alice, Aivy, Johnni and I all went nuts. Seriously we went berserk (I’ve used the word berserk a lot, it’s just so relevant). Unless the lights were completely blinding him, I think he probably noticed us considering again the glow sticks and the fact we were the only ones standing. I noticed his head look up from where he was originally glaring also (once we started tearing our voice boxes in half).

He then departed, and people started screaming “ENCORE”. The lights were still out, so we knew something was coming. The drummer then came up on stage and started firing up the crowd, banging the drums as people were yelling “ZHOU. JIE. LUN”. Finally he returns to stage, and Aivy continues begging. A few songs, and then boom. HUO HUO HUO HUO HUO HUO! Aivy was going CRAZY. OMG EVERYONE was going crazy, my voice box still hurts.

Wow. Just wow. I did not expect it to turn out that awesome.

Hmmm I wonder who’s coming to Australia next…
